San Gabriel Integrated Vocational Training Center - FP DUAL School of Oenology Ribera del Duero - San Gabriel

Dual Vocational Training

Dual Vocational Training is a new type of offer within vocational training.

It is done in alternation regime between the educational center and the company, with a number of hours or days of stay in this and in the educational center of variable duration. Has as goals:

  • Adapt FP to the real needs of the labor market.
  • Improve the quality of the training that students receive.
  • Increase the employability of graduates.

Why choose FP Dual?

  • To "learn by doing", combining theory and practice.
  • To guide training to the current needs of companies.
  • To access a real productive environment.
  • To improve professional and personal skills and abilities.
  • To increase expectations of job placement after obtaining the academic degree.

The implementation of this modality depends, as in all educational offerings, on each Autonomous Community.

Last September, the North American student, Sarah Griffis, from Umpqua Community College, arrived in Aranda de Duero. The visit and training stay took place within the framework of the agreement that San Gabriel Ciudad de la Educación maintains with the Southern Oregon Wine Institution (SOWI) within the Umpqua Community College (UCC) Campus, in the city of Roseburg, in the state of Oregon. (USA). City that is twinned with Aranda de Duero (Burgos).

Just like Matt Cates did last year, this year it was Sarah Griffis who had the great opportunity to work and enjoy the harvests in Ribera del Duero, the best wine region in the world according to Wine Enthusiast magazine.

It has been the winery Dominio de Cair, SL, who, within the framework of collaboration with the CIFP San Gabriel, has received during this internship period the North American student, who has spent her stay in our land with Maria Luisa Expósito, a student of the San Gabriel School of Oenology and Sarah's host family.

In return, three students from the San Gabriel School of Oenology arrived in the United States. Miguel, David and Yui, the latter, a student who came to San Gabriel from Japan.

Our students carried out internships in three different wineries located in this city in the state of Oregon, and they remained there until December 17, where they carried out the tasks of a winery, from the harvest to the preparation of the wines.

This exchange program is part of the innovative International Dual FP system, unique in Spain, promoted by the Gabrielistas with the support of the Burgos Business Federation (FAE Burgos and Asemar) that aims to promote the international projection of the prestigious professional training from Castilla y León and continue to promote the famous wines of the Ribera del Duero.

An exchange that began last year with the agreement between the San Gabriel School of Enology and the Southern Oregon Wine Institute within Umpqua Community College in Roseburg and that in its second year of operation is bearing the expected fruit.
